COPD

COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) refers to a group of diseases that cause breathing-related problems - diseases such as: emphysema, bronchitis and asthma. Smoking is a leading factor in causing these diseases but there are many other factors that contribute to making COPD one of the leading causes of death and illness in the US today. When detected early, COPD can be managed and its course often altered.

American Health Network provides pulmonary testing to detect COPD and offers a COPD Management Program to help patients in many of its facilities. These facilities have respiratory therapists on staff to evaluate needs, educate patients and work with your physician in the management of COPD.

Benefits of American Health Network's COPD Management Programs:

  • Our respiratory therapists are teachers, coaches and skilled operators of the latest testing equipment.
  • Our therapists work closely with your physician to make sure you are getting appropriate, high quality respiratory care.
  • From the very first appointment, which typically lasts an hour, our patients with COPD get in-depth information, including pulmonary function testing, treatment plans, exercise & diet guidelines and access to support groups.
  • Our COPD Programs give patients the knowledge and tools that allow them to manage their own disease - resulting in reduced fears during an attack and the ability to prevent attacks.
  • Our team based approach assures that patients have ready access to one of our providers.
