American Health Network brings telemedicine solution to retinal imaging patients

The primary care offices of American Health Network (AHN) now offer an on-site diabetic retinopathy exam (DRE).

The exam uses special cameras to see inside the eye. It's fast, painless and doesn't require the pupils to be dilated. It also finds eye disease long before patients notice a problem with their sight.

And because the exam can be done at a primary care clinic, it's convenient for patients. AHN offers the DRE in partnership with Intelligent Retinal Imaging Systems.

"We understood the challenges that kept our patients from getting the exam,” said Ben Park, MD, president, AHN. “Having the exam in a primary care office is a good solution for the patient."
