At American Health Network, part of Optum, we assure you that your medical records are protected and secured. Across our health system, our electronic medical records (EMR) help us give you the care you need, when you need it.
According to the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), you have the right to ask for a copy of your medical records if:
- You are the patient or the parent or guardian of the patient whose records are requested.
- You are a caregiver or advocate (someone who helps some else get care) who has legal authority to request records on behalf of the patient.
