Your health care team

When you visit your doctor’s office, a team of health care professionals work together to provide your overall care.

When you visit:

Office staff will check you in, update your insurance and medical records, and schedule future appointments.
A nurse or medical assistant escorts you to the exam room and records the reason for the visit.
A doctor, physician assistant or nurse practitioner will examine you and develop a care plan.
If lab or radiology tests are ordered, a technician does the tests.
