How to be mindful

One way to practice mindfulness is through meditation. Taking five minutes out of your day to meditate is a great way to de-stress.

Try a guided meditation to learn how to be in the moment. Look for a local meditation class in your area. You could also use an app on your phone or find a session online.

Mindfulness takes time

Mindfulness is a practice, so it takes time to learn. Don’t get discouraged. Throughout each day, remind yourself to be in the moment. Whether you are washing dishes or walking outside, pay attention to your surroundings. This includes noises and how you're feeling.

Actually listen to the water as it hits the plates, or listen to the birds chirping. Take a deep breath. As thoughts enter your mind, accept them. As you do this over time, you’ll notice you begin to do it more often.
